Get tips on cuticle care at home and have healthy and great looking nails. Stay away from cuticle infection and other problems by following these tips. Read on...
Cuticles are folds of skin at the base of your nails. Peeling cuticles is a common problem for people having dry skin. These give an unsightly look to your nails when they overgrow. The loose ends, in such case, often rest at the base of your nails. Overgrown cuticles are also known to interfere with the natural growth of your nails. Damaged cuticles can be a common cause of nail infection at this site. Taking proper care of these cuticles is essential not only for good looking finger nails and toe nails, but mainly for having problem free nails. But, how do you care for these delicate cuticles which form an important part of the nails? Here's all about cuticle care at home, a regime that you can follow to have healthy cuticles and hence, great looking nails.

Keep them Clean

To start with the cuticle care regime, that one needs to follow, make sure your nails are clean. You can go for a pedicure or manicure twice a month. Process of the same is quite simple and you can do it yourself by investing some time which will ensure that your nails stay healthy. While cleaning your nails make sure that the nail polish is completely off the nails. Many women have a habit of continuously reapplying nail polish. Avoid this, and let your nails breath free for some days between the coats.

Removing Excess Cuticles

Once the nails are clean or while you are doing manicure or pedicure at home, cutting the extra cuticle growth is important. Let me tell you that you must do the same carefully. Cutting it with the right tool, and very carefully, is an important step. Work slowly on the cuticle. First apply a cuticle cream and place cotton balls over each nail. Let it stay on for sometime. This will loosen and soften the dry cuticle. Now you can use cuticle clippers, orange stick, cuticle trimmer or any such cuticle remover tool to get off the extra growth. Remember to use metal tools only if required, as these might damage the delicate nail cuticle and also lead to cuticle infection. Just try to loosen the cuticle with a cuticle remover tool and you can see extra cuticle coming off. Also, do not remove it forcefully. Make sure you only remove the 'excess growth'.

Moisturize them Daily

Moisturizing the cuticles daily will help you stay away from the problem of peeling and dry cuticles. Applying a cream specially formulated for moisturizing your cuticles is the important part. Go for cuticle creams containing natural oils. You can also choose to apply a commercial oil or massage them with natural oils like almond and olive oil.

Protect Them

One of the important parts is protecting them. Try using rubber gloves while you do household work like cleaning utensils, if possible, so as to avoid direct contact with strong detergents which can dry out the cuticles. Do not bite you nails or use them as tools to open cans and packages. Make sure you shop for cuticle care products after checking the brand and quality. Low-grade products which claim to keep your cuticles healthy can instead damage them.

Following the aforementioned nail care tips regularly will ensure that you have healthy toenails and fingernails. Include the four easy tips in your grooming routine and keep your nails looking great. All the best!
